Dr. Fred (Edmunds)
Prior to leaving Bausch & Lomb, he was Director of Scientific & Academic Affairs, based in Rochester, NY. Over the past five years, he was very involved in the development of a novel sport-tinted contact lens, NIKE MAXSIGHT, designed to enhance the visual performance of athletes. Dr. Fred graduated from the New England College of Optometry in 1984. In 1993, he was awarded “Sports Vision Optometrist of the Year” by the American Optometric Association for his efforts to promote awareness of the importance of vision in sports worldwide through the Bausch & Lomb Olympic Vision Center, a unique testing facility he set up on-site during the Olympic Games in Albertville and Barcelona. He has lectured extensively around the world to eye care practitioners on contact lens and sports vision related topics. Dr. Fred stays active racing motocross, riding mountain bikes and snowboards, playing golf and volleyball, as well as other forms of sports and recreation. With his new business, XTREMESIGHT, he offers specialized visual services to athletes and active people engaged in competitive and leisure sports.
